WIAA Division 1 State Runner-up 2024-25
The FRCC consisted of eight teams when it started play in the 2010-11 season. Over the course of the next eight years the make-up of the league changed on an almost yearly basis. Five teams (Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere, Notre Dame Academy and Sheboygan) made up the FRCC from the 2018-19 season through the 23-24 season.
In the 2024-25 season Manitowoc again fielded a team competing in conference play. Manitowoc is the host school for the Manitowoc United Co-op which consists of schools in Manitowoc County.
Notre Dame reclaimed the FRCC title in 2024-25 from Bay Port. The Tritons have won 5 of the last 6 FRCC Championships.
The 25-26 season will again see the conference drop down to 5 teams as Bay Port Combined with Ashwaubenon, Pulaski, Wrightstown and Seymour to form the Bay Area Storm Co-op.
Notre Dame entered the 24-25 season as the two-time defending WIAA Division 1 State Hockey Champions. The Tritons again reached the Division 1 Championship game, but were denied the three-peat losing to Edgewood.
The conference champion in boys hockey is determined by an end of season tournament. The teams are seeded for the conference tournament by their finish in conference play during the regular season. Here is how teams are seeded:
The conference seeding will be determined by counting 3 points for a win in regulation or forfeit; if tied, use 3 man shoot out, if still tied, used sudden death shootout with roster list, for two points, one point if still tied, and zero points for a loss in all contests that make up the conference schedule.
Tiebreakers for Seeding:
- Head to Head (if only two teams are tied, if more than two teams, proceed to “b”)
- Scoring Quotient- divide goals “for” by the total of goals “for” and goals “against” to get the quotient:
- EX: Team A has 15 GF- 7 GA= 15/22 (.682)
- Team B has 11 GF- 7 GA= 11/18 (.611)
- If two teams remained tied after the “scoring quotient,” coin flip by involved ADs determines higher seed.
Teams will play a bracketed tournament.
5-team tournament
- Seed 4 will play seed 5 in a quarterfinal game on Thursday. The winner will play seed 1 in a semi-final game on Friday. Seed 2 will play seed 3 in a semifinal game on Friday.
- On Saturday, the loser of the 2 vs 3 game will play the loser of the 4 vs 5 game. If the 1 seed is upset by the winner of the 4 or 5, the 1 will absorb the NC scheduled game of the 4 or 5 scheduled after the conference tournament.
