FRCC Girls Basketball History

The Fox River Classic Conference began competing in 2007 when the eight schools of the former Fox River Valley Conference were joined by four schools from the Bay Conference forming a twelve team league.

Schools of the Fox River Valley:  Green Bay East, Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Green Bay West, Manitowoc Lincoln, Notre Dame Academy, Sheboygan North and Sheboygan South.

Bay Conference Schools:  Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere and Pulaski.

This configuration of schools remained intact through the 2014 school year.  Green Bay East and Green Bay West left the FRCC and joined the Bay Conference at the start of the 2015 school year leaving the FRCC with its current make-up of 10 schools.

From the 2007 through 2014 school years the league was split into an East and West Division where teams played the other teams in their division twice and teams from the other division once.  This format allowed for teams to still be able to play a non-conference schedule.  Starting with the 2015 school year after East and West left to join the Bay Conference, the FRCC went to a double round robin format, playing each team in the conference twice.

De Pere has the most conference titles with seven.  The first six of those titles came in the first ten years of the Fox River Classic Conference.  Notre Dame has five titles and Bay Port has three.  The Pirates  won their three titles in three consecutive years from 2017-18 to 2019-20.  Pulaski and Sheboygan North are the other teams with conference titles each having won two.

The Tritons are a 6-time WIAA State Finalist (winning the State Title in ’13, ’14 ’21, ’22, & ’23 and Runner-Up in ’24) all in Division 2.

De Pere has put together three  undefeated conference seasons in 2008-09 (17-0), 2012-13 (16-0) and 2024-25 (18-0).  One of Sheboygan North’s titles was an undefeated season in 2013-14 (16-0).  Notre Dame’s  last three conference titles all came with undefeated 18-0 marks.  Notre Dame held a 68 game conference win streak when the Tritons lost to De Pere 56-42 in the opening round of the 2024/25 season.  Prior to Notre Dame’s opening round loss in 24/25 the Tritons last loss came on February 8, 2020 when Pulaski defeated Notre Dame 47-41.

Notre Dame’s WIAA State Basketball titles and one runner-up finish all came in Division 2.  They defeated Pewaukee 64-49 in 2023 and 68-54 in 2022.  The runner-up finish was in 2024 and was also vs. Pewaukee losing 60-52.  The Tritons also won state titles in Division 2 in 2021 (Reedsburg 68-56), 2014 (DeForest 52-42) and 2013 (New Berlin Eisenhower 42-33).

De Pere has made three appearances in the WIAA State Tournament Division 1 Championship game.  The Redbirds won the title in 2012 (Milwaukee King 60-57) and finished as the runner-up in 2017 (Appleton North 49-47) and in 2010 (Pius XI 34-23).

Bay Port holds the other WIAA State Championship Title, winning Division 1 in 2019 (Middleton 50-49).
