Suamico, Wis. – Bay Port High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Bay Port alumna Mackenzie Hurst as head coach of the girls volleyball program.
Most recently, Coach Hurst was an assistant coach of the Bay Port volleyball program. Additionally, she coaches the 13U team at OneWisconsin. Prior to these experiences, she was the Varsity head coach at Waterloo High School in upstate New York from 2022-24.
“Coach Hurst’s experience, passion, and energy are inspiring. Her program-wide approach and high-standards of play will continue to elevate the program,” said Dillon Maney, Bay Port Athletics Director.
Hurst replaces Ben Alexander-Wolf and Denise Kapalko, who led the team to a regional final in the 2025 season. Last year, the Bay Port volleyball team completed a 24-8 season with a 9-0 conference record. Over the past three seasons, Bay Port has accumulated a 86-17 record.
Hurst is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire and is an alumna of the Bay Port volleyball program.
“I am incredibly excited to return to the Howard-Suamico School District and to lead the program I once played in,” said Hurst. “Bay Port volleyball already has a culture that is rooted in success, and I am excited to build on that while continuing to move the program forward.”
