Krueger Named Preble Varsity Softball Coach

September 29, 2025

Preble High School is proud to announce the hiring of Caitlin Krueger as the new head coach of the Hornets Varsity Softball program.

Krueger, a dedicated science teacher at Preble since 2021, brings a strong combination of academic excellence, playing experience, and a proven coaching background to the position. A graduate of St. Norbert College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Krueger played collegiate softball during her time with the Green Knights before earning a master’s degree from UW-La Crosse.

Her coaching journey began at Bay Port High School, where she spent four seasons — two as JV head coach and two as a varsity assistant — developing young athletes and supporting program success. Most recently, Krueger served as a varsity assistant coach at Preble, gaining valuable experience and insight under the leadership of Coach Metzler. In addition to her high school coaching roles, Krueger has been actively involved in the club softball scene for several years, including three years with Velocity Softball Club, further expanding her influence and commitment to the sport.

“I am honored and excited to continue the tradition of softball excellence at Preble,” said Krueger. “Over the past year, I have enjoyed working with and learning under Coach Metzler. I am looking forward to building on the foundation that has been set and hoping to lead the program to new heights by creating an environment centered on trust, cohesion, and resiliency.”

“We look forward to the future of the softball program under Coach Krueger’s leadership and are confident that her passion, experience, and vision will inspire student-athletes both on and off the field.” said Green Bay Preble Athletic/Activities Director Tim Flood.

Green Bay Preble won the FRCC Girls Softball title in 2025 and has won four of the last five FRCC Titles. The Hornets fell to eventual Division 1 State Champion Kaukauna 2-1 (8 innings) in the Sectional Final in 2025 .
