Janel Batten, Athletic Director at Pulaski High School was chosen as the AD of the year by the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association at the WADA Convention held earlier this week in Wisconsin Dells. The WADA Athletic Director of the Year is chosen from among seven Athletic Directors who were nominated by the their respective Districts around the State. Batten was the District 4 representative, having been selected as the District 4 Athletic Director of the Year last April.
Batten has been the Athletic Director at Pulaski for the past eleven years. Prior to that she taught Math for three years at Oshkosh West and sixteen years at Appleton East. Batten also coached Softball at both schools and was inducted into the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2022.
Batten’s signature accomplishment at Pulaski HS is serving as the Committee Chair and point person for the Field of Dreams Committee, which privately raised $7 million to build a new football/soccer and track facility and a baseball and softball complex on the high school campus.
Batten is also currently the President of the Fox River Classic Conference (5th year) after serving as its secretary for four years. She also serves as the co-chair for the WIAA Calendar and Contact Committee.
Batten is the second Athletic Director from Pulaski to be chosen as the WADA Athletic Director of the Year. Don Tolkacz was the State AD of the year in 2004.Â
