WIAA Boys State Golf Tournament

Monday and Tuesday, June 9 & 10

This is the 99th edition of the WIAA Boys State Golf Championships with the first championship being held in 1923.  As members of the Fox River Classic Conference Sheboygan North and Notre Dame Academy have both won State Titles.  Sheboygan North won the most recent title in 2023 under coach Ryan Schmitz, Notre Dame Academy’s title was in 2011 in Division 2 under coach Brian Bobinski.  

Other titles and runner-up finishes won by FRCC Schools including those prior to being members of the FRCC include:

  • Sheboygan North – Titles in 1986 and 1992
  • Sheboygan (South) – Runner-up in 1926
  • Green Bay Preble – Runner-up in 1994 and 2006
  • Notre Dame Academy – D2 Title in 2007, D2 Runner-up in 2004, 2006 and 2009 and D1 Runner-up in 2014 and 2015.

Prior to being a member of the FRCC, Green Bay Preble’s Bill Heim can claim the distinction of being one of only two golfers to win medalist honors at three State Championships. Heim was the Medalist in 1986, 87 and 88.  In addition to Heim, Warren Dailey of Manitowoc and Ervin Eberhart of Sheboygan Central tied in 1951, Roger EverhartSheboygan Central – won in 1955, Steve PantelSheboygan South – won in 1976 and Kelly DenessenGreen Bay Preble – won in 1978.

Three FRCC teams will vie for the State Title Monday and Tuesday.  De Pere won the Notre Dame Sectional at Thornberry Creek Golf Course with Bay Port finishing second. The top two teams in each Sectional qualify for the State Tournament.  In the Beaver Dam Sectional at Old Hickory Golf Course Sheboygan North finished second after losing a play-off to Germantown whom they tied in regulation play.  In addition to the three teams that have qualified, Thomas Bobinski of Notre Dame Academy and Brady Hayward of Pulaski, qualified as individuals out of the Notre Dame Sectional.  Cooper Eakin of De Pere was the Medalist at the Notre Dame Sectional.

Division 1 play will start at 7:00am on Day 1, Monday and conclude starting at 12:00 noon on Day 2, Tuesday.
