The 2023 Girls Golf Season got underway on Monday, August 7. Seven teams compete in Girls Golf in the Fox River Classic Conference. They include Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere, Green Bay Co-op (East, Preble, Southwest, West) Notre Dame, Pulaski and Sheboygan Co-op (North and South). Teams will begin non-conference play on August 10, with conference play beginning on August 21. You can access the 2023 FRCC fall golf schedule here:
The conference schedule will consist of 4 nine-hole meets and 2 eighteen-hole conference meets in addition to a conference tournament. Teams are awarded points according to their finish in all meets to determine a conference champion. In regular conference meets points are awarded as follows: 7 for the first place team, 6 for second, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point for seventh. Points are doubled according to place for the conference tournament with the breakdown being as follows: 14-12-10-8-6-4-2. The total points for all matches will determine the conference champion.
Bay Port is the defending Champion having edged Notre Dame in last year’s campaign 46 to 45. In addition Bay Port also competed as a team in the WIAA Girls Golf State Meet held at University Ridge in Madison last year by virtue of winning the Kimberly Sectional. The Pirates finished eleventh out of 12 teams at the State Meet. Adalyn Johnston was the top finisher for Bay Port finishing in a tie for 18th place.
The FRCC also qualified two individuals from Notre Dame for the state meet with Grace Durkin finishing in the top 10 (tie).
