The Fox River Classic Conference had a successful spring campaign highlighted by team and individual performances at the WIAA State Track and Field meet held at UW-La Crosse June 6 and 7. The De Pere Redbird Boys captured the Division 1 State Title, while the Notre Dame Academy Triton Boys captured the Division 2 State Title. Individually, FRCC boys had 16 podium finishes including 6 State Championships and the girls had 9 podium finishes and 2 State Championships. De Pere junior Grady Lenn won both the 1600m and 3200m run and senior Andrew Cartier captured the top spot in the Triple Jump. For Notre Dame Academy, senior James Flanigan won both the Shot Put and Discus events and senior Joseph Hunt captured the 800m title. Senior Thea Kral of Ashwaubenon defended her Shot Put title from a year ago and it was her third straight title in the Discuss in Division 1.
In Boys Tennis, senior Alex Thomas of Notre Dame nabbed a third place finish in Division 1 after finishing as the runner-up in Division 2 the previous year.
Bay Port, De Pere and Sheboygan North all qualified as teams for the State Golf meet.
Multiple teams made it to the Sectional final falling one game short of qualifying for State Tournament play. Bay Port and Pulaski in girls soccer, Green Bay Preble in softball and De Pere in baseball.
Ryan Lang – Sheboygan North was one of 32 State Athletes to receive a WIAA Scholar Athlete Award for 2025.
Boys Tennis

Sheboygan North captured the FRCC Boys Tennis Title going undefeated at 9-0. North was third different team to capture an FRCC Championship over the last 3 years (Notre Dame Academy-2024 and De Pere-2023). Martin Garcia of Green Bay Southwest was the singles player of the year, Tudor Cristescu and Keegan McDonough of De Pere were the doubles team of the year and the Coach of the Year was Mike Vorpahl of Sheboygan North.
The FRCC qualified two individuals and four doubles teams to the WIAA Individual State Tennis Tournament. Alex Thomas of Notre Dame Academy finished third in Division 1 Singles and was the only FRCC tennis player to reach the podium in this year’s State Meet. Other state qualifiers included: Martin Garcia – Green Bay Southwest in singles and the doubles teams of Vikram Khot and Isaac Fagre – Green Bay Preble, Sawyer Brault and Alex DiStefano – Sheboygan North, Sam Stimpson and Brady Wells – Bay Port and Keegan McDonough and Tudor Cristescu of De Pere.

Track and Field

The boys and girls FRCC athletes represented at the WIAA State Track Meet at UW-La Crosse. As mentioned earlier the De Pere boys (Division 1) and Notre Dame Academy boys (Division 2) both captured State Championships. It was the first Championship for De Pere, while Notre Dame Academy finished as a runner-up in 2011.

Grady Lenn – De Pere, James Flanigan – Notre Dame and Thea Kral – Ashwaubenon were all double winners at this year’s meet. In fact, Lenn’s times in both the 1600m run and 3200m run were also new state records. The FRCC had 8 individual State Champions and 25 podium finishes at the meet. Andrew Cartier – De Pere was a repeat winner in the Triple Jump, James Flanigan – Notre Dame repeated in the Shot Put and won his second discus title having won the discus in 2023 and Thea Kral – Ashwaubenon repeated in the girls shot put and won her third consecutive girls discus title.





Green Bay Preble captured both the Boys and Girls Titles at the FRCC Relay Meet. At the Conference Meet the De Pere boys won their third consecutive title while the Pulaski girls captured their first ever FRCC Track and Field Title. Grady Lenn – De Pere was selected as the boys Track Athlete of the Year and Andrew Cartier – De Pere was the Field Athlete of the Year. Randy Soquet – De Pere was the boys Coach of the Year. Tessa Campbell – Manitowoc was the girls Track Athlete of the Year and Thea Kral – Ashwaubenon was the girls Field Athlete of the Year. Rick Kamps – Pulaski was the girls Coach of the Year.

Boys Golf

Notre Dame Academy captured the FRCC golf title leading the field from start to finish. Thomas Bobinski – Notre Dame was the Golfer of the Year and Brian Bobinski – Notre Dame was the Coach of the Year.
Even though Notre Dame won the conference title they were unable to parlay that into a trip to the State Tournament. The top two teams from each sectional meet qualify for the State Meet and the FRCC showed its depth by having three teams qualify. Sectional Champion De Pere and Runner-up Bay Port from the Notre Dame Sectional and Sectional Runner-up out of the Beaver Dam Sectional Sheboygan North.
The FRCC also qualified two extra individual qualifiers to the State Meet, Brady Hayward of Pulaski and Thomas Bobinski of Notre Dame. De Pere had the highest team finish of the FRCC teams finishing 8th and Hayward was the top individual finisher from the FRCC finishing in a tie for 17.

Softball

Green Bay Preble claimed the FRCC Championship on the last day of the regular season by upending defending champion Ashwaubenon 1-0 at Pioneer Elementary School. The Hornets finished 18-0 with runner-up Ashwaubenon coming in at 16-2. This was Green Bay Preble’s 4th FRCC Title in the last five years.
Green Bay Preble also received the 1-seed in their sectional grouping of the WIAA Tournament and advanced to the sectional final before they fell to eventual Division 1 State Champion Kaukauna.
Berritt Herr – Ashwaubenon and Katie Geydoshek – Green Bay Preble, both pitchers, were selected as Players of the Year. Travis Piper – De Pere was the Coach of the Year.

Baseball

It was a three-peat for defending Division 1 State Champion De Pere. The Redbirds would finish 13-3 in the FRCC besting Bay Port and Manitowoc who tied for second at 10-6. De Pere would fall one game short of returning to the WIAA State Tournament and an opportunity to defend their State Title losing to Hortonville in the Sectional Final at Bay Port.
Bay Port Coach Harvey Knutson picked up his 100th win this season as varsity head coach.
Brayden Steinbecker – Manitowoc and Christian Collins – Notre Dame where selected as Players of the Year and the Coach of the Year was Bob VanRens – De Pere.

Girls Soccer


The FRCC Girls Soccer Championship was decided in the last week of the season with Bay Port, Pulaski and Sheboygan North all with a chance to lay claim to the Title. Sheboygan North eliminated Pulaski in the second to last round of the season by defeating the Red Raiders 2-0 at Horace Mann MS. This would set up a showdown with Bay Port who North would host on the last night of the regular season at Horace Mann MS. Both teams entered the contest with 7-0-1 records with Bay Port also being the defending Champion. A win by either team and they would be the outright FRCC Champion. In a defensive battle the final score, 0-0. Bay Port and Sheboygan North would share the Conference Championship.
In WIAA Tournament play both Bay Port (D1) and Pulaski (D2) would reach the sectional final falling one game short of the State Tournament. Pulaski would lose 2-0 to eventual State Champion
Brookfield Central in their sectional match-up.
